.....the fact that my entries have also been called "stupid", I was told "they have no place in the SCA at all, let
 alone in an A&S contest", and the fact that "I shouldn't be using "Introduction to..." books as part of my
 documentation" for a first attempt at a specific art....

I know that these are direct quotes and the fact that a judge used the word "stupid" at all on a comment form speaks volumes of their own lack of honour and courtesy.  It saddens me and angers me greatly and is unfortunately a common lament.

Let me say this, one can judge without being judgmental.  You have experienced it in your past.  I wish desperately to see this be the common theme in our Kingdom.  If we do not as a Kingdom encourage our artisans and their crafts, then we as Atlantians have failed.  I expect more of our people and so should we all.

Try and rise above and remember that Open Display is a wonderful chance to let the people see your work without the fear of negative repercussions.
