Unfortunately, while I'd love to see events set
further in advance, I think this is a case of our best
intents backfiring on us. With bids for events due 6+
months in advance, it becomes difficult to secure
sites. Groups can't reserve many sites that far ahead,
and therefore don't bother, because they figure
someone else will rise to the occasion. There are then
very few bids, or in some cases, like the winter
University that Isenfir just hosted, there are no
bids, and one has to hope that some ambitious group
will decide to scramble and make a saving throw. I
think the end result is that the deadline is
exacerbating the problem rather than improving it. I'm
not certain what a good answer would be -- if you move
the deadline too far forward, groups then have to
scramble to pull off the event, not to mention have
attendees scrambling if they want to attend, which
isn't good either. Perhaps Lady Katherine, who handles
Kingdom level event bids, could lend some insight . .
. Under any circumstances, does anyone out there have
a better idea to encourage more groups to bid more
rapidly for Kingdom level events?
Debora, who's now that she's no longer a seneschale,
has time to research her leads on Isenfir sites for
12th night and Crown/Coronations . . .
