Good Baroness,
Although you are somewhat correct, books are best
delivered at permanent bases, troops in the field will
recieve mail as well. This includes packages. I spent
a good deal of time in Kuwait and other Middle eastern
countires not too long ago, and I remember fondly the
package that contained Robert Jordan novels and canned
chicken. It was delivered along with the rest of the
mail that came in via 5-ton truck once a month or so
when the logistic train could catch up to the MArines
in the field. It takes some time, but they DO catch
up.
If anyone is considering food products, may I
reccomend chicken and beef bullion cubes. They are
remarkably small items for the indescribable pleasure
they bring. One cannot truly describe the joy in a hot
cup of chicken broth after weeks of MREs.
