On leaving tokens:
I've got awesome tokens - pewter cast imitations of
medieval Moorish coins which my lord husband made for
just that purpose! They have a little business
sized-card with them explaining what it is, that I'm
leaving it as a token of my admiration for their
efforts, and my email address if they wish to contact
me to discuss their work. There's a small area on the
card for me to write additional comments, except I
never have a pen on me at the time!
On getting tokens:
I don't think tokens need to be fancy, but they should
be thoughtful (candy like Hershey's Kisses don't
strike me as especially "thoughtful"...but they're
better than nothing! ;) And they're a great way to
let the artisan know your appreciation even when you
don't have time to sit down and write something
personal. I very rarely get comments in open A&S
displays, but I get a string of beads every now and
again. And that means a lot to me. Also, I
personally like to know who's given them, so I can ask
them for more specific feedback later during the day,
or even after the event.
My two maravedis,
Violante
