[MR] reactions to competitions

I improve my educational experience by research,
networking with others who have similar interests,
apprenticeship, preparing and teaching classes, taking
classes, wearing/using the object that I have made and
learning what needs improvement, asking the advice of
those who are knowledgeable in that particular art,
joining guilds, looking at the cool stuff that others
are wearing/using/displaying, etc., etc,.etc......I
occassionally, but rarely, compete. If I whine
afterwards, I try to do so among a small group of
friends who are tolerant of my character flaws.

I reread my post. Not only did I not voice whether or
not I compete, but I said nothing about winning or how
I felt about it.

It seems to me that in making these posts, you are
trying to change not only the behavior of others, but
their motivations. That is something that is very
hard to do. Generally, we can only change ourselves
and trying to change others can be very frustrating.
Sounds fruity and philosophical, but it is true. Thus
the comment about positive fruit. If I keep on
repeating this point to you, I will verge on trying to
change you, so forgive me. I will stop now.
