Currently the events listed on line are up through May. 4 months! Do
you personanlly plan much farther out than that? I would guess rarely.
"But there isn't very information regarding the future events", you
say? Well, they do list the hosting group. Many of them have their own
webpages (that you can get to from the Kingdom website)and they often
put up their upcoming event information months before it appears in the
Acorn. And if nothing is there or they don't have a web page? Contact
the seneschal for the group (contact information also available on the
Kingdom Web page), since they should, at the very least, know and have
contact information for the autocrat.
Sometimes you do need to plan further out... For example if your group
is trying to schedule and event or perhaps you are trying to schedule
something personal to not be in conflict with SCA demands (like a
wedding). What should you do then? Well, first figure out when the
Kingdom events are likely to be (that's on line with the bid submission
info http://seneschal.atlantia.sca.org/eventform.pdf). Second,try to
remember or look at past Acorns (wish these were still up on the
website) and see what groups have hosted events when. Many of these are
reaccuring, Ymir 2nd week of Feb, "Jewel" Joust Memorial day
weekend...etc. You can contact the seneschals to see if they are
planning to have that event again and when. I will admit that
unforetunately this method often overlooks the novel event that doesn't
have a history to promote it...which is a shame because sometimes they
can be the most interesting!
Also, when your group is planning an event, it doesn't hurt to directly
contact the Chronicler and ask if there is already something on the
Kingdom calendar then.
Anyway, that's my .02...(Someone must really be walking around with a
lot of change in their pockets!)

"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy.
If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem.
But I arise in the morning torn between the desire to improve the world,
and a desire to enjoy the world.
This makes it hard to plan the day."
