A really good cooks list (but very high traffic) is:
Sca-cooks mailing list
Sca-cooks at ansteorra.org
http://www.ansteorra.org/mailman/listinfo/sca-cooks
Lots of extremely knowledgeable and helpful people on there...
You can also get blue from blackberries, and yellow from saffron...

Greetings Fellow Cooking Enthusiasts!
I am now planning my garden and would like to know if people would be
interested in period food colorings. I will be growing cornflowers (blue)
and calendula (period marigolds).
I would offer them in exchange for your most interesting and/or most
successful redactions.
If anyone knows of other period plants used for colorants please let me
know.
Also, does anyone know the easiest way to de-feather geese or other birds?
And any other hints on dressing fowl would be appreciated
Yours in culinary exploration,
Grace Whyting
