Hello everyone,
The rapier tourney this year at Ymir will be a Magic
Tourney (a general description of the tourney style
can be found below if you are not familiar with the
Magic Tourney format). The field will be divided up
into 4 separate lists. The top 2 fighters from each
list will go on to the finals which will be a single
elimination run off. During the finals, fighters will
not be able to fight with the same weapons form twice.
Once you have fought with rapier and dagger, you will
not be able to fight with rapier and dagger again as
you progress through the finals. You will have to pick
another weapons form for your next round. :)

I am sure all of you are now familiar with the new
rules concerning mundane clothing and equipment and
the kingdom wide effort to clean up the rapier list
field. :) The new rules concerning mundane clothing
and equipment are now in effect so please look them
over. They can be found here at this address
http://marshal.atlantia.sca.org/Rules/BlatantlyModern.html
and are easily located off the Kingdom Earl Marshal's
web site. If you have any questions about those rules
and how they affect you, please talk to your local
marshal about them and make any necessary changes to
your gear. As rapier fighters, we are also making a
kingdom wide push to clean up the rapier list field.
At Ymir, no mundane gear bags or chairs will be
allowed within view of the field. If you are standing
on the rapier field, you should be able to turn around
360 degrees and not see any mundane chairs or gear
bags so if you are putting your gear bag in or behind
your day shade it should be covered or concealed. :)
Also, the space between the dayshades and the field
itself must be kept clear of chairs, bags, chests, and
racks so that spectators and other event attendees
will be able to walk freely and safely past the field.
Please take care to stow your gear properly either in
your dayshade or the common areas. :) There will be no
fighting until the walk ways and field area are clear.
:)

If you have any questions or need to contact me for
any reason please feel free. We will be having a lot
of fun this year at Ymir and I look forward to seeing
as many of you there at possible. :) Rosalind Delamere

(From the Mol's Handbook)

Magic Tournaments: Magic Tournaments are for fighters
who love to fight and MoLs who are not afraid to do a
little addition. This style of tournament works well
for moderate to large numbers of fighters and ensures
that fighters generally fight individuals of their
same skill level.

Magic Tournaments must be run on cards. While this
card is very useful and makes the addition easier, it
is not necessary and a plain index card may be used.
When using a plain card, write numbers corresponding
to the rounds down the edge of the card for ease of
marking later. The number of rounds will be
pre-determined by the Marshal and may be changed in
mid-tournament depending on circumstances.

Each fighter's name should be placed on individual
index cards along with a number so you can track the
pairings. The initial pairs are achieved by shuffling
the cards and pulling them in pairs. This assures an
unbiased initial pairing. Each pair of fighters will
fight up to three times. The number and sequence of
wins and losses determines the amount of points
awarded to each fighter. The amount of points for each
round always equals ten. When an individual has lost
twice the round is over for that pairing.

One fighter wins the first 2 fights 10 points to the
winner; 0 to the loser
A win, a loss, a win 7 points for two kills; 3 for one
kill
A win, a loss, a loss 7 points for two kills; 3 for
one kill
A win, a double kill 7 points for two kills; 3 for one
kill
Double kill, double kill 5 points/5 points split
