[MR] Heavy Fighting at Ymir

Fighting at this year’s Ymir will be done with the
traditional Norse theme.  Fighters will face off with
weapon and round shield or for the more daring you can
for-go the use of the shield and choose to fight with
a four-foot axe (the axe counts as a GW for
authorization purposes).

Fighters are encouraged to make and practice with
their own round shields or four foot axes however
there will be a few available for loan for those
unable to make their own.  The “loaner” rounds are all
center grips rounds (the way Odin intended a round to
be) please remember to have at least an elbow cup and
a half gauntlet for your shield arm if you want to use
a loaner shield. 

There is no size restriction on the shield, make it as
small or as large as you can wield.  The four-foot
axes can be constructed in any SCA legal fashion you
wish but they may not have thrusting tips and they may
not exceed four feet in length.  If you have any
questions about the fighting, or weapons construction
please don’t hesitate to call or write to me. 

Please keep in mind that the “reasonable attempt” to
cover your plastic/modern armour bits rule is
currently in effect.  Please review the rule and make
reasonable attempts to cover up your moden gear.
