[MR] Update: Christmas Parade in Sudentur (Fredericksburg, VA)

Greetings on this cold, sunny, Wintry Day.

The Weather Channel says we will have clear skies tonight for the parade.  The temperatures will be in the low 20s with the wind chill factor.  The roads are clear and the snow is melting as I am typing

Please be sure to dress very warm--wear layers of clothing, scarves, hats and gloves with your garb.  You will be outside for 3 hours.  This is a two hour parade from start to finish if all the units show up.  Last year, a lot of them cancelled out and the parade moved very quickly.  Expecting this to happen again this year.  After the parade, we will go back to the Campus Christian Center and warm up with a hot meal.  All are invited.

The parade route is around 20 blocks, with one steep hill.  Please no pets.

Saturday December 6, 2003.  Parade Line-up is 5 pm; the parade starts at 6 pm.  We will meet at the Campus Christian Center (CCC) on Danridge Street (see below for directions) between 4-4:30 pm.  We must leave for the parade line-up by 4:45 pm.  Strongly recommend arriving at the CCC before 4:45 pm and carpool with the group.  Wear Garb and dress for the weather.  You will be outside from 5-8 pm.  Any fighters who would like to wear their armor are strongly encouraged.

There is plenty of parking available at the CCC.  

We will carpool to the parade.  Parking downtown is limited.  Parking is available at the commuter lot behind the Train Station.  This is where we will park for the parade.

Our Parade Entry Number is 5-15.  We are to line up on Wolfe Street between Caroline and Sophia Street  

If you miss the carpooling from the CCC, you will have to drive downtown.  Directions from the CCC to parking downtown.  Go to College Avenue, turn right and go to second traffic light.  Turn left at the light.  You are on William Street.  Follow William Street and turn right on to Princess Anne Street.  You will go 5 blocks until you come to Lafayette Blvd.  Cross over Lafayette Blvd and when you go under the train bridge, turn right.  Follow this road to the end where you will find parking.  After you park, retrace the route you just drove and turn right onto Wolfe Street.  Walk two blocks to the parade line-up.  Please note.  Princess Anne Street is one of the parade route streets and at 5 pm, barricades will be set up to block non-parade vehicles.  People in orange vests part of the parade organizers and they are there to help you find your group.  If you are not sure where to meet, tell them you are looking for "5-15".
 
After the parade, we will go back to the CCC and have a potluck supper.  Everyone is invited to join us.

Directions to The Campus Christian Center

The address for the Campus Christian Community is 1213 Danridge. This building does not look like a home in this neighborhood. Please Note: There are no parking restrictions on Danridge. The CCC is the second building on the right, and has a sign. If you park on another street, please make sure you can park there. The parking signs are well marked on those streets. Rte-1 From the South (coming up from Route 3) 

Turn right onto College Avenue at the light just past the McDonalds. One block BEFORE the next traffic light, turn right onto Danridge. 

Rte-1 From the North (coming down from the Falmouth Bridge) 

Turn left onto College Avenue at the light just past the Hospital (Einstein Bagel is on the right side at this light). One block BEFORE the next traffic light, turn right onto Danridge. 

>From I-95 

Take exit 130A (to Route 3 east, downtown Fredericksburg). Follow Route 3 east 1.6 miles until you see a sign for Route 3 east business at the intersection of Route 3 and William Street. Turn left onto William Street. Follow William Street 1.5 miles to the campus. At the traffic light at College Avenue turn left. One block AFTER the next traffic light, turn left onto Danridge.
