Thanks for the clarification to my example!

I'm sad to say that your clarification was the best possible illustration of the reason one should avoid making direct use of SCA money whenever possible, unless one has a great tolerance for wading through this type of situation.  (Lord knows, I don't!)

For the purposes of argument (and perhaps to encourage flexibility of thinking on these matters), let's consider the following scenario:

If the autocrat planned to throw the chess sets away or give them away as prizes, the autocrat could purchase them as they would no longer be considered durable goods from an accounting standpoint?

And said prize could be given to "the group that organizes the best chess tournament" at the event?
