Im not one to pipe up on this list but as yet another person who was unable
to truely enjoy recieving an award due to surprise I am just going to speak
up this once.
I have a compromise. His Majesty points out its difficult to plan ahead when
We the populous doesnt write letters. And he is right, I serve my Baroness
as a Lady in Waiting and can speak to how frustrating that can be for those
who give awards. My suggestion would be that when we write our letters of
recommendations (and you all DO try to write these letters dont you?) put in
the letter, "Lord So-and-So will be attending Crown Tourney this spring. It
would be very important to him that his wife Lady Such-and-Such be present
if he were to recieve this award. I can personally see that both are in
court if you see fit to award him. I will be present and will be wearing a
purple and orange polkadotted doublet so I am easily found."
This way the crown or baronage would know not to surprise this person and
would know who to send an attendant or herald after to make sure the folk
are in court. This would help with the problem and take some pressure off
the crown.
There are always little ways we can help to make court run smoother.
