Greetings,
I know one thing that can be a big problem is getting recommendations ahead
of time...it is hard to plan things when you are trying to do it "on the fly"
so to speak.
Also, when you send in a letter to recommend someone, it is helpful to tell
TRM what events that person will be attending and if there is someone who
needs to know, you should let TRM know that too.
Do we have a perfect system? No. But the bottom line is that the award is
about the person getting it,...and while that moment is enhanced for the
recipient when those who care about them are present, the end result is still
a deserving gentle got their award. Kings and Queens try their best to make
sure that that moment is special for each person as best they can. We have a
large populace in Atlantia and while TRM try, it is sometimes hard to know
every detail about what this or that person "would" want....and on some
occassions, well meaning friends have been wrong about it.
People question the "surprise" element...and I am sure that debate will
continue. What I can say is that having had the experience of looking into
the eyes of the person in front of you as they become aware of the
award....it is an incredible experience, and most people I have talked to
were glad they were surprised.
The thing to stress here is do recommendations WELL in advance where you can,
and try to provide TRM with all the information they might need.
