Greetings Fellow Fencers,

I would like to give out a little bit of information about the fencing
scenario at Celtic Cattle Raids and ask that you share the information
with as many other fencers as possible (the more the merrier!). As you
know (or can deduce from the title) this is an early-period themed
event. We will absolutely be having rapier, however, and would love to
have everyone participate in the points tourney. We only ask that you
please make an attempt at early period clothing (or costume, if you
will) but this DOES NOT mean you need to make new fencing armor. It
will be perfectly acceptable to make a T-tunic and put this over your
existing fencing armor. As an incentive, we will be awarding extra
points to those who make the attempt. If you happen to go so far as to
have a fencing-legal Celtic outfit, there will be even more points
awarded. The most points garnered at the end of the tournament will win
the cattle to be used at the end of the day by their side in the final
battle.

If it helps to get into the spirit of the thing, I have it on good
authority that in the late Renaissance it was quite popular to dress up
in costumes and "gad about" (to use this authority's term) as Romans,
Greeks or "Savages." Think of yourself as savage and come and enjoy our
event.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask,

Gisele
