[MR] more casting questions

greetings fellow casters,
This is Mihill again.  I got a new question.  I got a couple of bull horns
that I would like to decorate with a casting.  One of them I plan on making
into a powder horn.  Heres the deal id like to do a casted strip around the
top and then one running down to the tip.  So here is the question should I
cast the strip with the design then attach it to the horn or do I cast a
thin strip and attach it to the horn then carve into the pewter?  What would
be the best way of doing it and what would be the best way to attach it to
the horn?
