Yep and they never miss the overabundance of Skunks while they are
doing it. Yankees attract skunks. Unfortunately the skunks can't
live with yankees either, and unlike living in our fine southern states,
seem to despairingly throw themselves constantly in front of cars up
there,
much the same as our southern possums do here. I would estimate Yankee
Skunk suicides far outnumber Southern Possum suicides judging by the
increasing odiferousness as one travels north of the NC state line.

At first I thought it might be some of the Sharlotte Shunks travelling
north on misadventure (like the yearly rush of Lemmings) but there's
not that many of them.

The one that got me last year was the yankee possum who proved it was
still possible to kill a possum right at the south end of the Cooper's
stop -both- ways, 15 miles per hour, single lane bridge at Pennsic
XXX. He must have lived the first week either near the Tuchux Camp or
Orluk Oasis and just couldn't stand the drumming any more. He was there
all of war week and not one of you applauded his performance.
