As the populous gathers to witness the great announcement of who will
succeed our king as heirs, those who light the home fires wait with
anticipation for the joyous news. Instead of waiting alone consider
joining the Barony of Nottinghill Coill for the Tournament of the Holy
Cross Demo in
Simpsonville SC November 1st and 2nd. This will be the fourth year we have
been
involved in this community "Medieval Faire" for Holy Cross Episcopal
Church.
They are anticipating over 1500 visitors this year. There is free admission
and SCA participants get free tickets for food.
Activities:
The site is open all day Friday for set up, please have all of your set up
done ahead of time or do it discretely (i.e. put up your pavilion in garb
while hiding your mundane equipment) once the event is open. Site opens to
the public at 7pm Friday night.
Torchlight Labyrinth Tour starting at 8.
Coronation pageant for their "King and Queen and Prince and Princess"
at 8:15
Royal Ball starts at 8:45
torchlight tournament begins at 9:45
The site closes Friday night at 11.
The site is open for period camping with no ground fires. There will be
security on site Friday night. Campers will have access to bathrooms and
may set up shower stalls away from the main areas.
Saturday morning starts with set up for a parade down Main street
Simpsonville.
7:00 AM Paraders assemble at Methodist Church (a mile away,
transportation will be arranged)
7:30 everyone in place and last minute adjustments
8:00 The Parade proceeds down Mainstreet, around and into the church
property.
9:00 AM Demo opens to the public during the day there will be 4
storytelling shows, tournaments in two different fields (rapier and heavy),
Equestrian gaming displays,
puppetshows, magician shows, maypole dancing, games, performances etc.
The Event closes at 3:00 PM. Breakdown and clean up begins.
Please consider attending. If you do any A&S please bring it and display
it.Also bring anything you can actually DO for the public, Two years ago
Lady
Sine brought her spinning wheel and spun all day long, she got alot of work
done and was the most popular display, 2 years later they are still talking
about her. Bring your flashest pavilions, garb, banners, armor, weapons
etc. Please cover and hide all your mundanities. If you are bringing
something excessively large, please contact me ahead of time to make sure we
make room for you.
There will be prizes throughout the day for best heavy, best rapier, best
equestrian, best performer, most chivalrous and more. Performers andpeople
willing to do persona work are especially appreciated. Merchants are
welcome.
We still need marshals. Mostly we need friendly faces. Word has it a
messenger will take flight as soon as the last blow is landed at Crown
Tourney to bring us news of the victor. So why sit at home waiting fornews
from the Merry Rose when you can hear it inperson surrounded by friends.
Directions:
From the North:
Take I-85 South to the I-385 exit- exit number 51- towards
GREENVILLE/COLUMBIA. Keep Left at the fork in the ramp. Merge onto 385.
**(you will have the option of taking the toll road (towards Atlanta) or
just staying on 385 both will put you out on the same place) Take the
SC-417
exit towards Laurens Road/Simpsonville. Turn Left onto the NE Main St/417.
Watch for Episcopal Church signs and turn onto College Street. You will
see event signs.
From the South: Take your best route to 385 and follow directions from **
