My Lady:

The number of newcomers present at Golden Moon who might have been driven
off by this display certainly troubles me. I think that were I in your
position, I would say to these folks that whenever people compete against
each other they are being tested. Heavy fighting is not only a test of
skill, speed and strength, but also of control. At Golden Moon, two people
failed the test. But I have seen both of these men pass this and other
tests on numerous occasions. Both have served their local groups and
kingdom with distinction. And I would tell your newcomers that both men
have taken responsibility for their actions and accepted censure by the
Crown. I would say also that the knights and other fighters are striving to
meet an ideal. When someone falls short of the ideal, as human beings often
do, it gives us all an opportunity to grow and see more clearly how
important the ideal is.

And last, I would tell your newcomers not to judge us too harshly based on
one occurrence. I will forward this to the Kingdom list along with an
anonymous copy of your letter in hopes that it will help others in your
situation.

Hope this helps.

Cuan
