We are having a workshop on Saturday, November the 30th, to make
tablet-weaving looms and learn tablet-weaving techniques.

But if someone wants to work on a shoe pattern, learn how to use a
lathe, or make a severed head to put on a pike around their camp, they
can do that instead!

We hope you will drop by our home for a fun time! As always, an RSVP is
greatly appreciated but not required.

Andras and Fuiltigherne (Fuil)

Here's the particulars:

Contact Info:

What to Bring:
==============

For tablet-weaving:
---------------------------------
$5 to cover materials, or:

A loom or a clamp that is big enough to fasten to a table-top.
Tablet-weaving cards, or some stiff cardboard drink coasters.
Yarn, wool, linen, or silk, in at least two colors.
Scissors.

For making a tablet-weaving loom:
---------------------------------
1 hardwood board (oak, poplar, maple, etc.), 6 feet long, 6 to 8 inches
wide, and 3/4 inch thick.
1 dowel, 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter.
$1 to cover shop supplies like glue, sandpaper, etc.

For shoe patterns:
---------------------------------
1 to 2 yards of vinyl, which will cost less than $2 a yard. 1 yard is
plenty, unless, like me, you make lots of boo-boos.
A needle and some thread.
Scissors.

For learning how to work on a lathe:
------------------------------------
$5 to cover materials. You will make a ball-point pin, which takes about
an hour to make.
(It's not a period thing to do, but it's the simplest way to teach the
mechanics of using a lathe with a houseful of people!)

For making a severed head:
--------------------------
$10 for materials, or:

A styrofoam wig head, preferably male.
1 1/2 yards of t-shirt material, flesh coloured.
Flax or other material that can pass for hair.
scissors.
"tacky glue"

What else to do:
================
Let us know ahead of time that you are coming, so that we know how much
to purchase in the way of supplies. Let us know ahead of time if you
can't make it after all.

If you want to drop in at the last minute, you are more than welcome! We
just don't guarantee that there will be supplies! (But there will still
be plenty of fun!)

To feel like like a generous soul, bring something to share with others
for a snack or for lunch - that isn't made from turkey!

Terms and Conditions:
=====================
It's silly to have to say this, but it's always better to be clear about
things up front.

If you say you are coming and we purchase the supplies for you, you owe
us for the supplies, even if you don't show up.
That's because we are not an arts and crafts supply company and don't
have any interest in stocking up on arts and crafts materials in the
hope that someone will buy them in the future.

We don't smoke in our home, and neither does anyone else.

We have two cats, for those who need to know that sort of thing.

No guns on the premises.

Things to know:
===============
Since moving to North Carolina, I've found out that a goodly number of
North Carolinians have the mistaken impression that Fayetteville is a
crime-ridden dump and are very reluctant to go there. It's not, it's
actually a very nice town, and no longer deserves the reputation it
(sadly) earned in the 60's.

The Airborne and Special Operations Museum is free, and just down the
road from our home. If you are interested in what our special operations
troops do and how they do it in places like Afghanistan or Iraq, you
might want to make a side trip to it. It is a **very** well laid out
museum and, though smaller, compares very favorably with the Imperial
War Museum in London. It is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, and I
would be happy to take people on over after the workshop, and then we
can get a real milkshake at Hornes' Deli, an old fashioned art deco soda
shop a block away.
