Another FYI,
Anyone interested in making solid, appropriate
furniture that doesn't necessarily require owning tons
and tons of power tools should take a look at the
Woodwright's Shop books, published by the UNC Press.
(Author Roy Underhill was previously master carpenter
at Historic Williamsburg and hosts a TV show on
hand-tool woodworking.)If memory serves, the folding
X-chair (no back) is included in one of the books,
along with simple stools, benches, trestle
tables...etc.
I'll even reveal a deep, dark secret...I get 50% off
on all UNC Press books (used to work there), so if
someone's desperate for a copy, I might could put in
an order...
