Courtly Love Quest Mistress Ceridwin ferch Owain
This is an orientation session for a quest being run by Mistress Ceridwen
on the theme of courtly love and the romantic literature of our period.
Questors will be directed to various individuals around the event to
obtain clues to the solving a riddle.
Beginning Dance Martine de Romilly and Theodora von Schmetterlingswald
If you can walk or wield a sword, you can DANCE! Two left feet? No
problem. Renaissance dance LIKES left feet! We will be learning the very
basics of French dance and putting them together in a processional pavane
and a flirting bransle (hey you fighters, thats pronounced brawl).
Introduction to English Country Dance Aine of Buckston
Hearts Ease, Sellingers Round, Jenny Pluck Pear, and Black Nag No
previous dance experience necessary.
Green Knights? Good Knight! Bardic Circle/Discussion Lady Eleanor

Come, bards! Come to share your funniest period stories and songs show
examples of medieval humor from your country or time period, be it
brilliant or bawdy. Learn new ones! If you know geographical or
historical reasons why some jokes, songs, or stories came to be funny,
come prepared to talk about them! Listeners welcome

an alternative, non-bawdy story if young ones are there.)
Bardic Arts 101 Lady Anna MacKenzie
Enjoy singing or telling stories, but dont know where to start? Afraid
of performing in front of others? This class will serve as an
introduction to the Bardic Arts as practiced within the Society and
hopefully provides some basic information on sources & bardic courtesy to
get you started. Newcomers & experienced bards willing to put in their
own 2 pence worth alike are very welcome!

Methods for improvising stories which are entertaining and easy.

A brief overview of the use of henna to create temporary tattoos in
period. Materials will be available for participants to apply their own
henna designs, but be aware that the designs will need to be left
basically undisturbed for approximately 6 hours for best results.

Learn the basics of one-ball juggling, including basic transfers, where to

Period Croquet Princess Padraigan
Learn how to play a period lawn game and challenge the fighters for their
playing field! No fees. Handouts available. A brief introduction to the
history of the game, explanation of period rules and as many rounds played
as time allows.
History of Bagpipes - Lady Bryn y Pobydd
A history of the bagpipes, all the way back to Rome, as well as some
information about the period music of the bagpipes, and also what you need
to do if you want to get started playing the pipes.

Courtly Love in the Lais of Marie de France Adriana la Bretonne
What's a Lai? Who's Marie de France? What's courtly love got to do with
a lai? What would a 12th century female poet have to say about marriage
and other relationships between men and women? This class will be an
attempt to answer these questions and field others. I may even tell one
or two of the lais in the process.
The Concept of Honor in Sir Gawain & the Green Knight Adriana la
Bretonne
A look at the philosophy of honour in Arthur's court as presented in the
chivalric romance of "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight." We will discuss
select passages and their presentation of chivalric honor in a medieval
court setting. And, it's a wonderful story!
