Good Afternoon all,
Just an FYI,
Feast and Cabin spaces for Sapphire Joust are moving
at an rather rapid pace. If you are interested in
either feast or cabins, it may be wise to get your
reservations in soon.
I have copied the event flyer below , which has all
the information that you may need. I hope to see you
all there.
In Service,
Sir Balynar Thorvaldsson
Baron, Caer Mear
> Sapphire Joust - May 24-27, 2002
>
> Barony of Caer Mear, Richmond, VA
>
> In the full bloom of Spring, young warriors yearn to
> test their mettle on the tourney field. Nothing is
> more glorious than to fight for one so fair and
> comely, who inspires great acts of chivalry and
> unparalleled honor upon the field. The annual
Sapphire
> Joust held in the Barony of Caer Mear calls all
> fighters to come and test their skills in the
tourney.
> There will be both heavy weapons and rapier
> tournaments. As is the want of Baron Balynar, the
> sapphire prizes will be awarded to the fighters who
> are deemed the most chivalrous and honorable on the
> field that day. All fighters are encouraged to wear
> the favor of one dear to them. For the less
combative,
> there will be no lack of activities, including A&S
> displays and classes, contests of games, children's
> activities, and archery. Since the weather will be
> spectacular and weekend long, there are activities
> planned for Saturday and Sunday. See the lists below
> for more details.
>
> Heavy Weapons: On Saturday, in addition to the
> traditional double elimination tourney in the
> afternoon, there will be three single elimination
> tournaments, one in each of two sword, great sword,
> and polearm, beginning at 10:00 am. Authorizations
> will begin at 9:30 am. On Sunday there will be a
> general fighting practice and classes in each of the
> weapons forms, followed by melees.
> Rapier: In addition to the traditional Sapphire
Joust
> rapier tourney, there will be a number of rapier
> activities throughout the day. More information will
> be given in the May Acorn.
>
> A&S Activities: There will be a best favor contest,
a
> best favor on the field contest, and a best courtly
> love poem contest. Also there will be an open
contest
> for work in progress, where a sapphire prize will be
> given to the winner with the best documentation.
There
> will also be a variety of classes taught by many of
> our talented Atlantian artisans. See the May Acorn
for
> a list of classes.
>
> Merchants: are welcome. Merchants who reserve will
be
> guaranteed space, but you must send your space
> requirements with your reservation. If you do not
> reserve merchant space, you are not guaranteed

> of simple fare for modest some. You must reserve for
> the meal of simple fare to receive it.

13,
> 16, and 20. To reserve a cabin, you must send half
