Long time subscribers to the Merry Rose will be able to attest that
I very rarely post to the Merry Rose, preferring to read and take
care of things in the background. In fact, some of you may not
know who I am. Just so you know, my name is Kendrick Wayfarer, and
I am the person that runs the list. (I'm not telling you this to
impress you, but so you can know where I'm coming from.)
I too read the thread Daniel refers too. I found that many of the
people (although, not all) posting to be extremely rude. Folks,
please repeat after me: THE SCA IS NOT REAL. IT IS A GAME. This
is our hobby. If you let it make you that mad, perhaps you are
taking things too seriously and should consider not doing it
for a while. At the very least, keep your flames off the Merry Rose,
we don't need them here. (And, yes, that is OFFICIAL MERRY ROSE
POLICY.)
As far as Lady Broussard's post is concerned, please be advised,
lady, that on the Internet, it is considered rude to respond to
a private e-mail in a public forum. By doing so, you attack
someone in public over what should be a private matter. In addition,
if you're really interested in where the term flame comes from, see
http://info.astrian.net/jargon/terms/f/flame.html.
Finally, I think that if you seriously believe in "the divine right
of kings" (even just for 6 months), you should immediately make an
appointment with a qualified mental health professional because you're
taking this game of ours way too seriously. (If you were just kidding,
then you should consider making it clear that you're not serious.)
Finally, just because someone has a bunch of letters after their
name doesn't make them any better than anyone else.
As far as Thyra's post is concerned, it should not have been cross
posted to the Merry Rose, and most especially not by someone else.
If she wanted it on the Merry Rose, then she probably would have
posted it herself. So, more official Merry Rose Policy: do not
cross post other people's message to the list unless you have
specific permission to do so.
I have never met Thrya (that I remember), but I have spoken to
her by e-mail several times. I have personally found her to be
quite clueful (probably the best compliment a person can be
given in the context of the Internet) and curteous. She may
dislike SCA politics, but then again so do I. So, to the
people that have been attacking her, let me be perfectly clear.
If you don't have anything good to say, don't bother saying it.
The Merry Rose is not meant to be a place for people to attack
other people. It is meant to be a place to facilitate communication
between the people of Atlantia and attacks just make it harder
to find the good signal.
In service,
Lord Kendrick Wayfarer
Listkeeper, Merry Rose

of urgency, when constitutional rights seem too extravagant to
endure. -- Justice Thurgood Marshall, 1989
