------- Forwarded message follows -------
As cool Winter evenings ripen into warm Spring nights, our thoughts
turn to the ascension of new monarchs to the thrones of Fair
Atlantia. The St. Anne's Clothiers' Guild wishes to encourage the
populace to don their finest garb in celebration of the Coronation of
Their Royal Highnesses Logan and Isabel. We are, therefore,
sponsoring a "Dress to Excess" competition at Coronation (with
the kind permission of the Kingdom A&S officer, the autocrat, and
her Highness).
What is "Dress to Excess"? For the purposes of this event, it is
extravagance - of fabric, of detail, of number of buttons, etc. Over
the top. Use your imagination. The competition is open to the
dress of all SCA time periods, and the rules are as follows:
1. Outer garments will be judged, preferably on the individual for
whom it was created. This includes tunics, cotehardies, sideless
surcotes, doublets, etc.
2. Documentation is required.
3. Judges will look for overall appearance & effect. How well does
the garment fit the idea of "excess"?
4. Skill levels will be divided into Beginning, Intermediate &
Advanced. Beginners should have less than 3 years sewing
experience, Intermediate between 3 & 7 years, and Advanced more
than 7 years experience.
If you are interested in judging or would like further information,
please contact Baroness Greta Klusenaere (Barbara E. Reed)
either by phone (703-481-8981 before 10pm) or email
(bereed26 at yahoo.com).
