Erntefest
September 21, 2002
Mein Herr und meine Herrin, gekommen feiern Sie die Beendigung der Ernte mit einem Tag von chivalry und von Merrymaking. My lords and my ladies, come celebrate the completion of the harvest with a day of chivalry and merrymaking. Join the Barony of Lochmere as we venture forth into the lands of the Holy Roman Empire. Brave men and women of Atlantia, help us show the Holy Roman Emperor that we cannot be bested on the fields of honor! For those of a gentler nature, place an entry in the brewing competition, cheer on your favorite dog in the hound coursing, or test your luck in a tournament of period German games.
Martial Events: Heavy fighters can participate in a variety of fighting formats, including a Landsknecht inspired tournament. Rapier fighters can defend the honor of their Fechtschul (fencing school) in a competition to the death. German and Austrian inspired shoots will challenge archers' wits and skills. Contact Lady Dealla Cohen (deallac at juno.com) for more details.
A&S: A brewing competition will be held at this event. Documentation is encouraged, but not required. Contact Lord Jehan Yves de Chateau Thiery (robmay at comcast.net) for more details.
Activities: Lord Michael Limner, proprietor of the Crab and Coin, challenges one and all to test their skill and luck in the gaming tournament. Lady Medb ingen Brain welcomes the children to join her in storytelling, preparing non-alcoholic drinks, and other fun activities. Lady Mary Agnes invites all dog owners to try their hand at hound coursing. Direct any questions to the autocrat, Michel von Schönsee at mholy1 at umbc.edu or 410-636-5522 prior to 9pm.
Feast: Lady Teofilia Karaszkiewicz will be preparing a delectable feast in the Germanic style. Any dietary concerns or questions should be addressed to her at: robmay at comcast.net or 301-490-1213 prior to 9pm.
Site: With the gracious assistance of our friends from Roxbury Mills, the event will take place at the Izaak Walton Lodge, 26430 Mullinix Mill Road, Mt. Airy, Md. 21771. The site opens at 10am and closes promptly at 9pm. The event is discreetly wet. Please no original containers!
