Greetings,
I am looking for marshals interested in becoming involved with Youth
Combat to apply as Regional deputies. Below is a copy of the letter
appearing in June's Acorn. We are hoping to make a decision by the end
of the month, but so far, only 3 people have applied. Current update:
I am putting the finishing touches on the policies to be given to Their
Majesties and Highnesses for approval and subsequent publication. We
have a deputy KMoL for youth combat and she is doing a fantastic job
with the paperwork issues. And, finally, I hope to begin marshal
courses and armor workshops in July and really kick-in after Pennsic
(and especially after we have regional deputies).

Thank you,
Gisele
Deputy Kingdom Earl Marshal for Youth Combat

Greetings Fair Atlantia,

This is my very first letter to you as the Deputy
Marshal for Youth Combat and I am very excited to
let you know that Youth Combat is coming to
Atlantia! We are working very hard on the
policies, handbook and other details, but it will
still be a few months before we are ready for
youth to authorize. This can only happen with your
help and so far the response has been
overwhelming. We have established a discussion
group for both heavy and rapier youth combat (yes,
another list!) and if you contact me, I will be
happy to add you to the list.
The main reason for this letter is to put out a
call for Youth Combat Regional Deputy Marshals.
These marshals will assist in finalizing the
policies, training local youth combat marshals,
ensuring correct paperwork, and a whole host of
other things that I have not yet thought up. For
the first generation of deputies, these
individuals need to already be a marshal in either
heavy or rapier combat. If interested, please send
me a letter or email with your name, address,
phone number, an SCA resume, and experience with
combat and with youth activities. I would like to
have these by the end of June, so please do not
delay.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions. All inquiries, comments, or
applications for Regional Deputy can be sent to me
at: Lady Gisele l'Orpheline (Deborah Burgin), 36
Winter Garden, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 or email:
burgin.deborah at epa.gov.

In Service to Atlantia,
Gisele
