(A version of this letter will be published in the
Acorn)
Greetings from Lady Kateryn Rous, KMoAS, and Duchess
Simone de Barjavel, Principal of the Order of the
Laurel
We are pleased to announce that, working together, we
have come up with a system we feel will both encourage
A & S and take some of the guess work out of planning
and preparing for competitions/exhibitions at Kingdom
level events. We are calling this the 'Tempore
Atlantia' scheme (translation: in the right time
Atlantia).
Beginning with their Highness' coronation in the fall,
the KMoAS's office will sponsor a single,
time-specific display/competition at every Kingdom
Level event (excluding KASF). The only criteria for
entering an item into the Tempore Atlantia exhibition
is that it must be from the time period being
highlighted that day. We will follow a sliding
schedule, so that the same time period is not
highlighted at the same event year after year.
The schedule for Tempore Atlantia is as follows:
Fall Coronation 2002, items from CE 1250-1492
Fall Crown 2002, items from CE 1492-1600
Twelfth Night 2003, pre-1000 items
Spring Coronation 2003, items from CE 1000-1250
Spring Crown 2003, items from CE 1250-1492
Fall Coronation 2003, items from CE 1492-1600
Fall Crown 2003, pre-1000 items
and so on.....
People may enter as many individual items as they
wish, and will be able to mark their items as
non-competitive. The KMoAS will coordinate the
awarding of specific prizes, which may include 'best
in show' and 'best documentation' awards for both
adult and youth competitors. Individuals, local
groups, and guilds may sponsor specific prizes (for
example: best piece of embroidery); anyone interested
in sponsoring a prize should contact Lady Kateryn.
We hope that the Kingdom's Laurels, Pearls, and others
will make it a regular part of their event day to
visit the display area and perhaps leave comments
and/or tokens for participants.
Royalty and the local hosting groups may, of course,
wish to sponsor other competitions or displays, and
these would occur alongside Tempore Atlantia
activities. The Roll of Arms competition will continue
to be held at every Crown Tourney.
Comments and questions can be directed to either Lady
Kateryn or Duchess Simone. We are looking forward to
starting this system in the fall!

Bids to host the 2003 KASF are due July 15
