[MR] Easy & cheap pavilions

OK, here is my two cents. I have bad back, a small car and I'm pretty
broke. But the setup I have at events is not bad looking. It doesn't take
much to move it, and it doesn't take forever to set it up. First off,
the pavilion I set up at events cost me under a $100 . It's a simple
10'x10' yard pavilion that you can buy at some of the larger food stores for
around $30. I made a cover for it from 12 twin flat sheets that I got on
sale for $3.50 each.

I have two of them now and they both fit into the trunk of a 96 escort,
along with room for two chairs, a table, a ground cover, throws for the
chairs and other various SCAdian necessities. And yes, when my car is
packed, there is still room for another person to ride with me. The
pavilions go up in about 10 minutes each if there are 4 people, but I can
put one up by myself with my bad back in under 30. The pavilions are
waterproof because the framework comes with a plastic cover. Both were put
to the test when the skies opened up and a bunch of us took refuge under
them.

If you've been to any events in Sacred Stone in the last few years, mine
was the black one with red dags and yellow fringe. If you haven't , here
are some pictures of it, along with some shots of the pavilion I made based
on my Canton's heraldry. http://www.hci.net/~niobe/pavalion/pavalion.htm

I use the folding camp chairs, but the ones I haven't had time to make
covers for, I always grab a sheet or a piece of fabric to throw over them.
Add some bargain basement fabric on the ground, hang a few banners up and I
have that ambiance I'm looking for without that much effort.
