in case phillip did not mention it, there will be fighting at troy this
year. to that end please pay close attention to this very important aspect
of that fighting.

all teams must be registered with the mol by 10am. to register your team
only one member need be present so if you arrive and your mates have not go
ahead and sign up. if you are by yourself and have no other teammates, go
ahead and sign up as a team (we will find you some buddies before the
scenarios on site).

we will have trucks and/or vans to transport the fighters from the site to
the downtown area for the demo/bearpit portion of the event. this is
crucial as we really wish to impress the locals in elkin so that we might
get preferential treatment in the near future for a really nice site built
for us! perhaps a future war with the middle? who knows.

at 1030am we will begin the bearpit/demo downtown with the heavy teams. if
you are the only one on your team that is there...... good luck (we will
enforce the 4 on 1 rule, but i would think about yielding the fight).
losing teams will be awarded points and all wounds are retained. this will
be a 45 minute bearpit and will be run very fast. we will start with the
heavy teams and switch immediately to the rapier teams at 1115.

it appears that we will be having many teams and we will try to run this in
a timely fashion so that we might enjoy a dip in the pool, a cold drink, and
some dancing after dark. but we really must get going on time.

all the info on the scenarios and much of the contact information can be
found at our cantons web: http://charlesbury.atlantia.sca.org or by emailing
me until noon tomorrow with any questions.

regards!
logan

Those staying for War practice on Sunday after Troy will be able to use
the Rec Center showers after 1:00pm.

Some have been unable to find directions, so here goes:
Take your best route to Exit 82 on I-77 in North Carolina. Turn Downhill
(left from the south, right from the north) and proceed until you cross
a long narrow bridge. Turn left. Turn right at the next light. Turn left
at the next light (you are following highway 268). The park is down a
long hill on your left. Signs will be posted.

Again, activities include fighting (ask Logan about schedules) Dance,
both Occidental and Oriental Saturday night, merchants, fighting, hot
meat, cold pool, so bring a suit, a long list of children's activities,
A&S displays, discussions. There will be fighting. The bandshell has
electricity for the playing of pewriod tunes for the dancers, who will
dance on the carefully manicured lawns of the rec center under the high
torches of His Royal Majesty.

Feast is capped at 150 (We are at 130 now) and will be served at 7:00.
You don't even need to bring feast gear, as we'll provide that, made
from materials commonly available In Period!!!! There will be fighting.

Merchants are welcomed (as are fighters), along with musicians,
jugglers, buskers, fools of many sorts (but not all). Licensed and
lesahed pets are fine. GROUND FIRES ARE NOT. No open display of alcohol,
please.

On Sunday there will be fighting. Showers will be available from 1:00pm
-5:00 pm.

The park administrator emphasized to me this point DON'T BLOCK THE
WALKING TRAIL. People in Elkin get real upset if they can't do their
jog.

There is plenty of potable water, and divers sources, but you might want
to bring a container to carry it in. There are numerous functioning
toilets, though only 4 will be open to us overnight.

You WILL be able to drive on the track to at least NEAR where you'll be
camping in order to unload. DON'T BLOCK THE PATH. The ground is dry and
hard. There is abundant paved parking for your vehicles.

There will be fighting.

We will provide shuttle service between the park and the downtown bear
pit, where there will be fighting.
