Good Gentles, I beg your lease pardon if this sends out more than once, I'm 
having difficulties.  Please, I pray you pay heed and forward this missive 
on to anyone (or any list) that may be interested:

The Incipient Canton of River Point in Petersburg, VA will be holding their 
annual Absolute Last Chance Authorization Event and Regional War Practice 
on July 27, 2002 (yep!  That's in TWO weekends!) at Richard Bland College 
(11301 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805).

Come one, come all, this is your Absolute Last Chance to Authorize before 
Pennsic!

Do you have all of your equipment but haven't had time to authorize? Are 
you interested in getting together with like-minded fighters for a day of 
melee's and authorizations? Were you not able to make it to Assessments 
last weekend, and need a few more good battles before you're Pennsic 
ready?  Do you feel rusty and perhaps just a wee bit unprepared for the 
likes of Pennsic? Well, allay those fears!

Back by popular demand for one day only, we have the Absolute Last Chance 
Event and Regional War Practice! Authorizations for heavy AND rapier will 
be going on throughout the day as well as melee practices for the newly 
authorized and for those that just want to come to Petersburg and have fun!

If you were at our event last year, hopefully you'll remember the nice 
large melee field we had, the fighting, the merchants, the fighting and the 
many authorizations (did we mention the chance to fight)?

						9:00 AM Site Opens
						10:00 Authorizations begin
						10:00 Melee Practice (if there are enough Marshals for Authorizations 
and Melees)
						6:00 Site Closes

Site Notes: The address for the site is **11301 Johnson Road, Petersburg, 
VA  23805** (The address listed in the Acorn is incorrect... it's 11301 NOT 
1301).  This is a one-day event, so there is no camping, this is a 
completely dry site. We will be providing shacks, gatorade and water (lots 
and lots of water). There will be no lunch provided, but troll will be 
happy to point you to the local eating establishments. Please feel free to 
bring your own water and refreshments. The event is also moderately 
handicapped accessible. Absolutely NO pets please. There are no 
outbuildings of any kind (it's a soccer field) (yes, we will be providing 
porta-castles but there will be no place to hide if it rains) and there is 
limited bleacher seating, so please plan accordingly.

Reasons to contact the autocrat: The need or want of hotel or crash space, 
if you are merchanting, you need special assistance of any kind, also if 
you're one of the following three types of Marshals:  Heavy, rapier, combat 
archery.  We need lots and lots of Marshals.

Site Fee: 17 and older, $5.00 per person, Anyone under the age of 17 is 
free, make checks payable to the Barony of Caer Mear, SCA, Inc. If you 
would like to pre-register, please contact the autocrat.

Children's Activities: Unfortunately, there will be no children's 
activities of any kind, but children are welcome with proper supervision, 
so please plan acccordingly.

Arts & Sciences: There will be no planned displays or competitions, however 
please feel free to accompany your favorite fighter (or just come to visit 
with other folks); and work on whatever you like! (Keep in mind that there 
is no hall for this event).

I-85 South at the !-85/I-95 split. Follow I-85 to the first exit, Squirrel 
Level Road (Exit 54 off of I-85), follow white, purple and red SCA signs to 
Richard Bland College.

 From the South: Take your best route to I-95 NORTH to Petersburg, VA. Take 
Take I-85 South at the !-85/I-95 split. Follow I-85 to the first exit, 
Squirrel Level Road (Exit 54 off of I-85), follow white, purple and red SCA 
signs to Richard Bland College.

 From Parts West: Take your best route to I-95 South to Petersburg, VA.
