[MR] Pennsic Name Origin?

Today I was trying to explain Pennsic and how wonderful and unique it
was to one of my mundane co-workers and was confronted with the
question, "So what does 'Pennsic' mean?"  To my embarrassment, I stood
there with a dumb look on my face and had to admit that I didn't know
what it meant, if anything at all.
 
So, my question to the populace is: Does anyone know how/why the name
Pennsic was chosen for the War and what, if anything, it means?
