The following is from Baroness Beatrice, Deputy Earl Marshall of the Horse
in regards to horses at Gulf Wars

>Gentle Cousins,
> Tonight I spoke to Kat, the wrangler who handles the horses for Gulf
>Wars, to get the update on the horse situation for this year's Gulf Wars.
> 1. The rental horses for the equestrian games have been booked since
>November 30th, 2001. She opens the reservations for the rental horses on
>November 15th of each year and sells out within a couple of weeks. The
>reservations are first come, first serve. The rental horses are $50.00 per
>day.
> 2. She has trail rides available again this year. There will be a sign
>up sheet at the barn about two hours before the trail rides begin for people
>to sign up. The trail rides last one hour and are $10.00 per ride. Again,
>this is a first come, first serve basis. Children 8 and above may ride by
>themselves and those younger may double with a capable adult. The trail
>rides will begin at about 10 am and finish at about 4 pm on Friday and
>Saterday ONLY.
> 3. Private horses must reserve space at least 30 days in advance of Gulf
>Wars. She has several spaces for private horses still available and people
>can bring metal pole portable stalls. No electric portable corrals are
>allowed. Any horse brought on site is $50.00 if she provides a stall or the
>owner provides a portable stall. Current Coggins tests plus health
>certificates are required for each horse brought on site and must be shown
>to the EQ marshals before unloading the horse.
> 4. If a horse owner would like her to provide Coastal Burmuda hay, the
>owner must tell Kat at the time of the reservations how many bales they will
>need. Hay is currently $4.00 per bale. Shavings can also be provided at
>$5.00 per bag.
> If you have any questions she might be able to answer, her phone number
>is: 601-796-4000 (call between 8 and 9 pm Atlantian time to reach her) or
>email at: CTu7703.
> I hope that this information is helpful. Would someone with access to
>the Merry Rose mind posting this missve there for me? Thank you! Your
>Servant, Baroness Beatrice von Staufen
