I normally don't do this on a public forum, but...
This brings up a question I have about a disturbing trend I and others have
noticed in Atlantia over the past couple of years. This is not directed
specifically at the organizers of Ymir or any others, but perhaps autocrats
from various events could tell me why it is necessary to charge the same fee
for campers as for cabin users?
Why did I and many others in our kingdom spend hundreds (if not thousands)
for a nice looking pavilion so that we could avoid hotel and cabin camping
expenses? What exactly are we campers paying for? It would appear that we
are subsidizing the event for the rest of the event goers, day-trippers, and
the like. If I am incorrect please educate me. In the old days (have I
been around that long?) camping was free or minimally expensive. I am not
opposed to paying to camp, but I feel it should be less than for cabin
users.
I have autocratted events before, and it seems to me that encouraging people
to bring their pavilions only enhances the look and feel of an event, so
shouldn't we be cutting campers a break? I have seen many events where if
you want to camp you must have a pavilion (that is an entirely different
issue) in order to enhance the "period" feel of the event.
I realize that sites are becoming increasingly expensive and hard to find
(as witnessed by the ever increasing site fees over the years), however, I
think it is unfair to make campers pay more than their fair share, when not
providing benefit or service to them.
My apologies for the rant, but it finally got the better of me.
Regards,
Gregor MacGregor

Subject: [MR] Tourney of Ymir - Camping
Greetings All!
After much conversation and negotiation, I am happy to announce that
we will be able to add some camping space for the Tourney of Ymir.
Those wishing to camp are reminded that they should be prepared for
inclement weather and are advised to take appropriate precautions
regarding tent heaters.
Those wishing to camp will need to pay the same on site fee as those
staying in cabins:
Received (Not Post Marked) Before Feb1:
Adult $12
Child (5 to 12) $6
Received (Not Post Marked) After Feb 1
Adult $13
Child (5 to 12) $7
In service,
- Nikulai
