March 23, 2002 - Murder at Malverley
Barony of Highland Foorde, Frederick, MD
Lord Malverley, inspired by the fall of Jerusalem, took the cross and
departed for the Crusade in 1099. Now , three years later he returns.
Lady Malverley has planned a grand day of celebration to honor his return,
complete with his favorite pastime, an archery shoot! But a shadow falls
upon the day. Lord Malverley is late and there has been no message. Can
ill have befallen he and his men-at-arms? Lady Malverley still plans to
hold the day of celebration in hopes that he will arrive in time!
Come join us for this Brother Cadfael styled day of mystery and
intrigue
set in 1102 in the town of Malverley, on the Severn River just a few miles
below Shrewsbury. Can you solve the mystery ere the day ends? Listen to
the rumors, look for clues, question the townsfolk and celebrants, but
beware false accusations and over much curiosity. The sheriff and his men
are sharp eyed and ready for those committing crimes in Malverley. The
Baron and Baroness will be present for the celebrations and will hear those
legal cases brought before them in the afternoon. A grand period feast
will finish the day!
Attendees will receive their lunch and feast tokens, as well as
several
coins and possibly clues or even evidence in a pouch when they arrive at
troll. A simple lunch will be served at the Drunken Moose Tavern in
exchange for your lunch token, and is included in the price of the day. A
period feast, will be served in the evening at "Malverley Manor". Those
wishing to be "off board" during the evening will be seated in the Drunken
Moose, where they may still participate in the event, but will not be
served feast. No "off board" seating will permitted at the feast tables.
Archery: There will a series of period shoots for the amusement of the
archers and the wagers of spectators from 11 AM to 1PM! As always, the
butts will be available during the afternoon, too.
A&S: There will be an open display for projects of any sort, and the
populace is invited to leave one of their "coins" beside any project that
they would like to praise. The Perpetual Project Competition will be the
highlight of the A&S! The rules for the Perpetual Project Competition are:
