Rencester’s Tornement Dæg Williamsburg Virginina April 13, 2002

Felicitations and salutations to the good gentles of Atlantia from the
students of the College of Rencester! In the fine tradition of competing for
grades, the College will be holding a tournament event to celebrate the
impending close of classes. As we have a reputation for being a well-rounded
school, the day’s events will include a wide variety of contests,
encompassing wit and knowledge as well as the fighting arts. So come and
join us for a day of merriment and mayhem- no final exams, we promise.

Contests: The day’s events will include marshall tournaments, poetry and
trivia contests, and an arts and sciences competition. Gentles in attendance
at the event are encouraged to enter as many or as few of these contests as
they desire. Prizes will be given to the winners of each contest. At the
close of these competitions, a Champion will be chosen for Rencester. To be
eligible for Champion, one must enter three of the five contests. Marshall
Tourneys will be held in both rapier and heavy weapons. Arts & Sciences is
an open competition to be judged by the populace. Anything may be entered,
but we encourage submissions which incorporate Rencester’s colors of blue,
white, and gold. SCA Trivia suggestions for the trivia contest would be
greatly appreciated, and can be sent to Erin Epperson eheppe at wm.edu .

Children’s Activities: As to not leave out the children of Atlantia (ages
twelve and under) there is also a competition for the title of Children
Champion of Rencester. There will be competitions of courtesy, heraldry, and
physical activities. To be declared the champion one must participate in two
out of the contests.

Feast: A delicious repast will be cooked up by Phoebe Williams. Contact her
at with any dietary concerns. There will be entertainment during feast; a
short play based on the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Dancing: After feast there will be a ball lasting until 11. Dances will be
taught and called.

Site: Trinkle Hall, in the Campus Center of the College of William and Mary.
Site opens at 10 am and closes at 11 pm. This is a dry site and no pets or
live steel are allowed. Due to College regulations, no merchants are
permitted.

Fees: On board $9 (after April 3 $11), Off board $5 (after April 3 $6).
Children 6-12 $4 on board. Children under 6 are guests of the College. If
you plan on having feast, reservations MUST BE MADE by APRIL 3; feast
tickets will be very limited the day of the event. Please send reservations
