Our "Brother Kingdoms" have NOT always fought Double Elimination Tourney's. I myself have Heralded two Round-Robin Crown Tourneys in Drachenwald, and can for a fact attest to the falsity of your statement.

Many times a double elim, yes. More common than any other, yes. Possibly always in Atlantia; but not ALWAYS,and Everywhere as you have suggested.

Changing the method may not change anything for the better, but can anyone assuredly say that it will change for the worse?

It is a game. As an avide Gamer for the last 15 years, the best games are the ones that grant the greatest lee-way without becoming unbalanced, and without losing in it what the game's genre is.
