CANDLEMAS
January 25th, 2003
Canton of Aire Faucon
The Canton of Aire Faucon invites One and All to join us on Saturday, January 25, 2003 in celebrating Candlemas. The day shall be filled with games, dancing, and fighting to lift our spirits during these dark days of winter. To supplement our stores of food from the field, Our gracious Baroness, Kisaiya Zingara, has granted us permission to hunt upon her royal lands for all manner of beasts and test our skill against the wild boars that rampage through her forests and eradicate the poachers.
Baron Achbar ibn Ali will host the Hunt for the Boar. So bring your spears and hunting hounds so that we may feast upon their flesh. Hunting teams will be comprised of one or two hounds (thrusting weapons and shield or dagger and buckler) and a huntsman (spear or great sword). Poachers are limited to archers only!
There shall be a test of skill of arms using rapier throughout the day. The exact format is yet to be determined. All combatants, and any others who wish to participate, are asked to bring one item for donation to outfit a newcomer for an event (i.e.- clothes, feast gear, candle sticks, belt, pouch, etc). This is not required for participation in the tourneys.
A&S: To honor the spirit of the beasts that shall surely lose their lives on this day, there shall be an A&S competition and display illustrating the best depiction or use of the beasts of the hunt for Home and Hearth. The encouraged media for the competition are the flesh, skin, bone, and horn of the beasts and the wood, stone and amber of the earth.
Cost: Adult, Member: $5.00 Day-Trip $5.00 Feast; Adult, Non-Member: $8.00 Day-Trip $5.00 Feast; Child (6-12): $3.00 Day-Trip $3.00 Feast; Children under 6 are guests of the Canton.
