[MR] How to pick a name?

Good evening to all!

My name is Ashley Elmore, and I recently joined the SCA.  I love in
Wilmington, NC, so I believe I belong to the Seareach area.  Anyway, the
queation I pose is this: how does one go about selecting and registering (?)
a name for the SCA?  My membership card had this particular spot blank, and
I am at a loss as to what the proper procedure is.  While I realize that
this may not be a particularly important question, I just feel that picking
a good name will help me to get off to the best start.  Are there limits on
what type of name might be used, given the particular time reference?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
