I pray this missive finds everyone enjoying excellent health and that
those that made the pilgirmage to Pennsic well recovered from their
journey back!
The Barony of Stierbach and Windmasters Hill will be holding the first
of two delightful events aimed at poking fun at one anothers assertion
that it is one or the other Great Barony that has the *most* land....
hence, Land Wars... Scathingly brilliant yes?
In order to provide for the populace and to assuage the senses of those
not martially inclined, we propose to have as many merchants available
as can fit in the area designated all on one side of the battlefields.
Merchants who are interested in participating should bring their own
shade and tables. This event takes place at Prince William County
Fairgrounds over Labor Day weekend and runs from 5pm, Friday, August
30th to Monday, September 1st- and fighters, there will be *plenty* of
fighting on Sunday! Archers- well- you know how much we love archery
here in Stierbach. Please see the online Acorn for particulars.
Site fee for the weekend is $16 for non-members, $13 for members, and
50% off for children under 12 (no matter how long you stay). Camping for
the weekend is $10. Feast on Saturday is $7, and breakfast each day will
be a nominal cost of $2/day. Sunday dinner will be of simpler fare and
is $5. Checks payable to Barony of Stierbach, SCA, Inc. Send your
reservations to Lady Alys of Foxdale (Sally Montuori), 4121 Lees Corner
Rd., Chantilly, Va., 20151, (703) 802-6385, email: foxdale at wolfstar.com.
Please contact, moi, Baroness Rowan Berran MacDowell at
denise at shado.info if you plan on attending. There is plenty of outdoor
space available. Site fee for merchants is waived (up to 2 people).
The Prince William County Fairgrounds directions are:
From the South: Take Rt. 95 north to Rt. 234 north. Stay on Rt. 234
when it makes a right turn at a stoplight. After about one mile turn
left into the Fairgrounds directly after the National Guard Armory
parking lot.
From the North: Take Rt. 66 West past exits for 234 North and South at
Manassas. Go approximately 3 miles and exit onto Rt. 234 bypass heading
SOUTH. Go approx 8 miles (three stop lights) on Rt. 234 Bypass and take
a left onto Rt. 234 NORTH. After about 1 mile turn left into the
Fairgrounds directly after the National Guard Armory parking lot.
Hope to see you there!
Pro Deo et Atlantia!
