[MR] NonMember Charges

In a real sense, our Society IS our local groups and Kingdoms, Your
Majesty.
Those who have elected to serve their local group without paying tithe to
Milpitas, whether for matters of principle or matters of practicality or
simply because they prefer to support their group and kingdom with their
$$$ support that Society just as much when they attend an event as I do,
even though I have paid such tithe continuously for 25 years. And, if I
choose to come and schmooze and observe and not work the event, I am
probably supporting that Society less than the individual who sets up
tents, helps folk carry their gear, works in the kitchen and cleans up the
hall while paying the same fees I do.
The national office is NOT our Society, merely a convenience function and
in many respects the logistics functions for which the expenses You note
are required could be outsourced fairly inexpensively as many fraternal and
alumni groups do. One of the surprising things I was told at the War by a
number of Westerners and BoD members was that the national office staff are
now composed almost entirely of staff who do not participate in the Society
at all and are generally not members even pro forma so we are in a sense
outsourcing it now, though not very effectively economically.

no they dont contribute to the society. they pay no membership fees. all
of the fees you listed are paid by the hosting group and not by the
national
organization.

Non-members contribute nothing monetarily to the Society? Do they not pay
to attend events? Furthermore, is their attendance at events somehow more
expensive than members' attendance? Do feast ingredients cost more if
eaten
by non-members? Do site tokens cost more if worn by non-members? If they
pay the same amount as members and consume the same amount of resources as
members then they contribute as much monetarily as members do (at least at
the local level.)
I first began "playing" nearly 12 years ago as a poor college student.
During all this time, I have only been a "paying" member for a total of
about 4 years. Yet, I know that my service to the Society did not wax and
wane depending upon my membership status. Non-members, you see, help in
the
kitchen and stay for clean-up, too. It would seem, then, that non-members
contribute quite a bit to the Society, including, but not limited to, their
money.
Conversely, I have known many members who contributed nothing but their
money....
Your humble servant (and currently paid member),
Cristofana di Lorenzo
