LAND WAR – PART 1 and The Quest for the Lochmere Arrow
August 30 – September 2
Barony of Stierbach

Didn’t get enough war at Pennsic? Ready to fight some more battles? Well
come on out to the first part of the great land war in Atlantia between the
Barony of Stierbach and the Barony of Windmasters Hill. Pick your side and
join in Saturday on the first of the battle points to be fought in the
Barony of Stierbach, whether you are archer, fencer, or heavy. Sunday will
also be a full day of fighting, shopping and fun. But pay heed, this is not
all. For the annual quest for the Lochmere Arrow will take place on Saturday
afternoon.

Marshaled Activities:
Saturday will be the war activities between the two Baronies. The heavy
fighting (Lord Pao Hu Tso at cordanij at earthlink.net) and rapier fighting
(Constanza de Tallavera at sharon at unagi.cybernothing.org) will consist of
melees between the Baronies and their respective allies starting at 10 am.
The target archery (Pennsic style) (John de Lochabre at dpeno at yahoo.com) and
throw weapons (Gwynaeth Pembroke at ckervina at earthlink.net) (royal rounds)
ranges will be set up by 9 am for war points. There will also be other
target archery novelty shoots available in the morning. Target archery on
Saturday afternoon will be reserved for the groups that can muster sets of
two archers (as many sets as can be mustered from members only of the
respective groups, barony, shire, etc.) to contest for the ‘Lochmere Arrow’.
The dread Barons Mika Longbow and Nikolai Dolgorukova will design this
challenging shoot.

Sunday is also a full day of marshal activities. The heavy and rapier
fighting will consist of individual competitions starting with
authorizations at 10 am. There will be the standard thrown weapon
competitions and target archery will consist of multiple novelty shoots.

Site: The event will take place at the Prince William County Fairgrounds
from 5pm on Friday until high noon on Monday (Yes, Monday). There is plenty
of tenting space for those that desire to camp. The site is wet; do not
display the original containers.

Feast: Lord Gruffudd ap Cadfael (carl at gruffudd.com) will endeavor to bring
to you a Persian style feast, for 120 seats, on Saturday that will be judged
superior in quality and taste. Register early for the Saturday feast. He
will also deliver the tavern style fare to be enjoyed on Sunday evening. A
simple breakfast will be served on Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday feast
and both breakfasts can be reserved or purchased at troll or at the
particular meal.

A&S:
Performance: There will be an open Bardic on Saturday and Sunday nights.
The Bardic on Saturday night will open with the war point between members
only of the respective Baronies. Each person will present one song, tale,
etc. of their choice with the theme of their choice.

Static: The competition is open to any and all forms of A&S products. The
products will be judged individually on their merits. After the judging is
done the war point will be tabulated for this activity. For this war point,
only members of the respective barony will collect points for their group.

Cost/Reservations: Site fee for the weekend is $16 for non-members, $13 for
members, and 50% reduction for children under the age of 12 (no matter how
long you stay). Camping for the weekend is $10. Feast on Saturday is $7.
Breakfast each day will be a nominal cost of $2 per day. Sunday dinner will
be of simpler fare and is priced at $5. Sunday dinner and the breakfasts can
be purchased ‘at the door’. Please make the checks payable to ‘Barony of
Stierbach, SCA, Inc.’. Reservations should be sent to Lady Alys of Foxdale
(Sally Montuori), 4121 Lees Corner Rd., Chantilly, Va., 20151, (703)
802-6385 NLT 10pm, email: foxdale at wolfstar.com.
