CAMP YORK; KING'S MOUNTAIN STATE PARK, SC
The Orient, a place of mystery and mastery. Come join the Canton of
Hawkwood as we open the trade routes to the East. Explore the possibilities
of the exotic finds and maybe become SHOGUN! Help us introduce the culture
of our lands to their realm, and return with the treasures of the Orient.
FIGHTING:
HEAVY: A heavy tournament consisting of specialty weapons (Great Sword, Pole
Arm, Sabre and Two Swords only) will ascertain who is Shogun. A Grand Melee
will follow and as per the MIC this event will be a no shield event.
RAPIER: A rapier tourney will choose a Captain of the Caravan Guard for next
year. This tourney will be a “Captain’s Tourney.” Come as a single duelist
and lead or be lead as the tourney advances. There will also be a three on
three melee style Bear Pit to follow, all members of a team must be killed
to remove the team from the pit and wounds are retained.
ARCHERY: Archery will be available and all Archers should prepare themselves
for next years Emperor's shoot, the prize is worth waiting for!!!
A&S COMPETITIONS: There will be an A&S competition with a plethora of
possibilities. Anything oriental is the theme and documentation is
required. There will also be an open display for those that wish to show
their work but do not wish to compete (no documentation is required and any
format is welcome). There will also be a performance category of HAIKYU,
documentation is not required but would be appreciated.
EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES: EQ events are in the works and should be a lot of
fun and educational. Please contact the equestrian marshal in charge for

THE FEAST: The Feast is limited to 100 gentles and will be of oriental flare
with no one ethnicity. The head cook is Ihone Munro and can be contacted at
ian at silverquill.net. Please contact him with any dietary concerns or
allergies.
MERCHANTS: As always we Love having you and are always welcome to attend.
Contact the Autocrat for more information. You will need to supply your own
tables and/or day shades.
THE SITE: The site will be Camp York at King's Mountain State Park in South
Carolina. The site will open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24 and will close
at 12:00 noon on Sunday, May 26. Primitive camping will not be permitted on
site but a space is available less than a half mile up the road. Period
pavilions are permitted and Cabins are available upon reservation. There is
a lake where swimming is permitted, but there is no lifeguard on duty and
swimming is at your own risk.
SITE RESTRICTIONS: Pets are allowed, but must be leashed. This is a DRY
site. There will be no vehicles permitted beyond troll, this is per the Park
Rangers and non compliance with this will have your vehicle towed at the
owner's expense. Please do not block the road as this hinders the
possibility of emergency vehicles from getting in or out.
THE COST: The cost of the event is $15.00 On-Board/On-Site; $10.00
On-Board/Off Site or Off Board/On Site and $5.00 Off Board/Off Site.
Children between 12 and 7 are half price. Children under 6 are guests of the
Canton, but we must have a reservation for them. If you wish confirmation,
please include a SASE, SAS postcard or an email address. Send reservations

Refunds must be requested in writing within two (2) weeks of the event to
the canton exchequer.

DIRECTIONS: North: Take your best route to I-85 South just South of
Charlotte NC. Take exit #8 (HWY 161 King's Mountain) and turn left. When you
reach the fork in the road, bear right. Go 7 miles until you see the split
rail fence on your right. Turn right after the fence in King's Mountain
State Park. Take the first paved road on your left (Group Camps, Living
History Farm). Follow the signs to Camp York.
South: Take your best route to I-85 just north of the NC/SC border. Take
exit #2 (King's Mountain Military Park). Turn right on 216 through the
Military Park to King's Mountain State Park. Turn at the sign for Group
Camps. Follow the signs for Camp York.
