Unto the Crown, Peers, and Populace of Atlantia does Gorm of Berra, Golden
Dolphin Herald, send greetings:

At their meeting held April 7, 2002, the following items were considered.

Unfortunately, the college were unable to recommend, and therefore had to
RETURN these items for further work. In all cases the submitter will be
receiving a letter explaining the problems, and they will have one year
from the date of that letter to resubmit a revised item at no further charge.

Arn Bjorn Bassi Dansson. Device. Barry of four vert and gules, on a cross
patee quadrate Or a bear's head cabossed proper.
We had to return this because it violates Rules for Submission under
contrast. Specifically, RFS V.III.2.b.iii and iv; which states: Elements
evenly divided into two parts per saltire or quarterly may use any two
tinctures. .iv. Elements evenly divided into multiple parts of two
different tinctures must have good contrast between their parts (should be
a color and a metal). One way to clear this violation to replace one of
the colors with a metal. Also, when resubmitting this, please note that
the cross as depicted is formy quadrate; furthermore, please note that the
bear's head is brown not cinnamon.

Attilium, Canton of. Device. Per fess embattled gules and argent, two
crosses moline Or and a laurel wreath azure.
While we believe the device appears to be free of conflict, the petition
that was attached does not meet the requirements of the Laurel
Administrative Handbook. Specifically, the petition must include "a clear
description of the item submitted." The attached heraldic device does not
meet those requirements, therefore we are forced to return this
submission. The simplest way to resolve this problem is to include a
petition with a clear emblazon or blazon of the arms.

Berenger Nachtwulf Von Mainz Der Spieler. Name.
Regretfully, the college was unable to locate references citing "Kumihara"
as an element in a period Japanese name. The documentation provided does
not speak to the periodness of the name.

Cathal MacLean. Badge. Azure, a tower argent, crosses Or within a bordure
sable.
We are returning this because it violates the color on color rule. You
cannot put a black border on a blue field.

Cormac An Faoldubh. Device. Per saltire azure and or a saltire
counterchanged between a wolf's head erased and an oak leaf inverted sable.
Name registered 12/00. This device conflicts with Galen of Elvegast
registered October 1997; per saltire, azure and or, a saltire
counterchanged. Only one clear difference for addition of secondary charges.

Derek of Connemara. Device.
We are returning your device which you described as "on the right, a silver
stripe with a black arrow and black quill. On the left, a black and silver
hippogriff on a red background. We are unable to register this for several
reasons including: 1) the beast on the left side of the left side of the
shield which we were unable to identify as a specific heraldic monster is
primarily black. You cannot place a black creature on a red
field. 2) The white stripe on the right side of the field is heraldicly
referred to as a tierce, Laurel precedent declares that you may not place
charges on a tierce because of period balance issues. 3) We were unable
to discern a blazonable posture for the beast . We encourage you to
discuss these issues with your local herald or a Kingdom Consult table
which are held at most Kingdom events.

Lore Bubeck. Device. Argent, a cat sable climbing a crosier purpure, on a
bordure argent a bunch of cat's paws.
This is being returned for color on color (you can't put a white border on
a white field). The cat is not in a blazonable heraldic posture.

Seamus MacInneirghe. Badge. (Fieldless) Upon a rose vert a sail-hilted
maingouche argent.
This was returned for a redraw. The primary rose charge needs greater
definition.

Yolande of Isenfir. Device. Argent, between two violets proper slipped and
leaved vert, a pegasus segreant within a pile purpure.
Please resubmit this device on the proper forms. The forms we received
were at least three revisions of the forms ago. Proper forms can be
obtained at http://herald.atlantia.sca.org. We note that it is possible
that your device conflicts with Argent, on a pile purpure between two
common blue irises slipped and leaved proper a houndstooth burnisher argent
(Gabriella Maddelena Pisano), with one clear difference for the difference
of the burinsher and the pegasus, but we cannot guarantee a second clear
difference for charge of flower types.

In Service,

Gorm of Berra
