Greetings to the Merry Rose from Maestra Caterina Leonora de Forza
d'Agro;

I am very happy to announce that, with the kind permission of the
Autocrat, Sir Iain Monlach, I will be sponsoring a Competition and
Display of Arts at the upcoming Sapphire Joust (May 25-26, 2002).

There will be a Competition of "Works in Progress."
There will be an open A&S Display.
And there will be a Sapphire prize awarded for Best Documentation (all
entries, display AND competition are eligible).

No one will go home empty-handed. Semiprecious gemstones will be given
to everyone who participates.

For the Works in Progress Competition, several valuable Prizes (replica
period jewelry from museums and SCA artisans) will be awarded.

BEST DOCUMENTATION CRITERIA: Clear, Concise, Relevant, Legible, and
Brief.
Explain how your entry is similar to and different from what would
have been done in period. Provide sources of inspiration and reasons for
variation in materials, techniques, and design. Clear pictures or
photocopies encouraged. All entries (competition and display) are
eligible.

Any questions? Contact Caterina at reamesd1 at westat.com.

Please note, I am NOT subscribed to the Merry Rose, so address any
comments/concerns to me directly at the email address listed.
