Unto the Quarrel:
I believe that the acrid debate on the Queen's Arms has obscured one
very potent fact: The arms will not be changed while Princess Isabel is
on the Throne. As with any other armory change, it MUST go through the
proper channels; we cannot send a note to Laurel King of Arms and say
'Put it back the way it was" and expect immediate compliance.
The note on the polling says "To be returned by May 15, 2002". That
means that even if there is sufficient support, the request to change
the arms back cannot go out any sooner than the June Letter of Intent.
There will be three months of commentary by the College of Arms, and the
Laurel office will rule on the change in October. It will probably be
November before we hear the official ruling.
Fall Coronation is set for the first weekend in September. 'Nuff said?
Royal Whims should stay just that, and not plod their way through the
long and torturous trail of Official Bureaucracy.
