Some updated information about the Feste d'Autumne was left off the flier in this month's Acorn. Please note the following:
Heavy and rapier fighters - please look at your respective sections carefully. You need to bare the favor of a consort. Don't have a consort? Come on up...I suspect we can hook you up! Heavies: if you have visible heraldry, please bring/use it.
We *will* have a thrown weapons competition!
Children are 12 and under. The price for early registration ("before 9/14") means *postmarked no later than the 14th.*
Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you!
Elize
And here, for the last time, is the flier:

September 21-23: Feste dAutumne (Autumn Party III)
Shire of Crannog Mor, Boone, NC
Autumn in its splendor comes to the mountains as the cool breezes of September blown in. The good gentles of Crannog Mor invite you to glory in the season with us at our Feste dAutumne, or Autumn Party. We have traveled from Scotland to Spain, and now our journey brings us to France and un week-end extraordinaire filled with fighting, feasting and frolicking.
Heavy Fighting: A true knight (or knight-to-be) is as courteous with the populace as he is proficient with his weapon. To test the merit of the fighter, he will be judged on both accounts by the fighters and the ladies in attendance with a bauble tourney/Pas dArms (so visible heraldry is strongly suggested). He who wins the most baubles wins the prize. Fighters are requested to have a consort, as the fighting will be preceded by a heralded processional, and the consort of the winning fighter will also receive a prize. If time and attendance allow, we plan to follow the tourney with a themed melee, French vs. English.
Rapier: Musketeers, Cardinal's Guards and Bandits. All teams will have a quest set before them and will participate in a town scenario. Wits, as well as prowess, will determine the victor of the days events. Melees will surely ensue throughout the day. Fighters are requested to have a consort, as the fighting will be preceded by a heralded processional, and the consort of the winning fighter will also receive a prize.
Archery: We will shoot IKAC and IKCAC on Sunday. If opportunity arises for a heavy melee on Saturday, we may shoot the fighters.
A&S: During the day we will hold A&S classes. Topics currently include dance, dying and massage. (Note: the massage class is planned for after the fighting
) After feast we will hold a dance & bardic circle for any who wish to participate.
A&S Competitions: 1) Brewing and Vinting Popular-vote competition divided into wines, meads and liqueurs. [We WILL check ID, and you must be 21 to even enter the judging area. Our constable says, If I cant, you cant!] 2) Bardic competition You may prepare your material ahead, but it must be your own creation. Any typical bardic format (story, song, music, etc.) is welcome. Non-original performance pieces are welcome, but will not be judged. 3) Open-media competition If you can document it as having existed in France in period, and it portrays France in a positive way, it is welcome.
Feast: Baroness Brighid will delight you with a feast entirely à la française. Please bring extra feast gear, white flags optional, to this 10-remove feast. While the exact menu is not yet available, here are a few of the items we are currently planning: elk, moose, venison, wild trout (or salmon), subtleties, and two dessert removes. Please contact the feastocrat with any dietary concerns. Seating is limited, so the earlier you reserve, the more likely well still have space. We hear stories have gotten around about last years feast
Merchants: We have a large covered porch overlooking the listfield reserved for your use! There is no additional charge for merchanting. Please contact the autocrat by September 14th with the amount of space you need.
Costs/Reservations:
Important: Bring a cloak, even if you are only coming for the day! The temperature can drop unexpectedly.
There are several cabins on site, with beds for 130 gentles. The cabins are not heated and it can get nippy at night, so you are encouraged to bring electric space heaters, electric blankets and the like. Open flames, however, are not allowed.
