This from my Lady Wife Catherine, and I fully agree:

If the identity of the competitors is concealed from the judges, some 
information should be provided, such as age bracket (as in the case of the 
7yo calligrapher) and experience level in that art.

In the case of an "international" competition or display, such as at Pennsic, 
the entrants' kingdom and branch should be included as well.  My Lady was 
asked if she had seen a given entry or entries, and she had not been aware 
that those entries  were Atlantians.
