FW: [MR] Coronation Curia - New Orders?

oy vey! please read my post. i didnt ask any random herald. i asked those
that were in charge of this mess while i was on the throne. when i asked i
was simply told that the manatee was a new world animal and, as such, it
wouldnt fly. hence the creation of the augmentation i granted of kanes
badge. i dont care what the letter said that was sent out as that has
nothing to do with my post. my post simply stated that i thought it was
interesting since, when i was signing the checks, i was told one thing. it
wasnt a bitch or a gripe, only an observation.

personally i dont care what is proposed as another subset of awards. we
have plenty now. i only mentioned it as it seemed curious to me that when i
tried it was summarily shot down in no time. perhaps this time there was
new evidence.

regards
logan

ps i know what the second (not the original) heraldry intended was for
the nonpareil (the big sea cow with hearts) as it came up during our first
reign oddly enough. i was told that it was a new world animal, hence the
creation of the augmentation.

Who told you this, Logan? Don't just ask a random herald -- contact
a senior Herald who is closely involved with submissions and hence
familiar with what is and is not possible. The entry for the order
name on the August Atlantian Letter of Intent reads thusly:

Order of the Manatee
Manatee — Merriam-Webster Online
http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary dates the word to
1555.  Etymology: Spanish manat{i'}

New world creatures -- and hence their names -- are allowable in SCA
heraldry, as a single step away from period practice. If you can
cast your mind back a couple of years, you might remember that the
original badge for the Non-Pariel was a manatee between three hearts.
