November 16-18, 2001, Feast of Saint Dismas
Canton of Cydllain Downs, Camp Congaree, Lexington, SC
Before the rush of the holidays, come and celebrate at the Feast of St.
Dismas, the patron saint of thieves and rouges.
This year the event is hosted by the crew of the privateer ship, St. Erasmus
(the patron saint of sailors; any connection is
probably intentional).
Gaming parlor: Friday evening, there will be a gaming parlor and other
entertainments to aid in unwinding from the
mundane.
Fighting: We will have scenarios for both heavy and rapier fighters with a
nautical theme and the added challenges of
protecting and acquiring treasures. There will also be an archery tourney.
Arts & Sciences: There will be three categories for artisans to show their
skills; pouches, treasure boxes, and any bardic
presentation concerning thieves and rouges. Documentation is requested but
not required.
Children's Activities: The children will also have the opportunity to search
for treasure in a heraldic scavenger hunt.
Feast: Our feast will be a period, hearty dinner, prepared by William of
Welyn. Feast is limited to 80, so please reserve
early. House Platypi will also be providing their traditional chili lunch
free of charge to all.
Site: The site is the Congaree Girl Scout Camp, located just outside of
Columbia, SC. The site opens at 5pm on Friday
and closes at noon on Sunday. There will be dormer style cabins and camping
available. This is a dry site, no pets are
allowed, and smoking is restricted.
Cost: On-board/on-site=$15.00. On one/off the other=$10.00. Day trip=$5.00.
Children under 12 are half cost, unless
they are under 6, then they can be smuggled in free under a full cloak.
Reservations: Please send reservations to Lord Geldamar Le Faceur (David
White) 900 Gracern Rd. Apt. 105, Columbia,
SC 29210. Children should be included in reservations so that feast space is
accounted for. Please make checks payable to
Canton of Cydllain Downs, SCA Inc.

Strobel) at 803-781-5674 after 4:00pm with any questions or concerns about
the event.
