As the previous holder of the Lochmere Arrow, I wished to give everyone a
little bit of history on the Arrow. While attending A Pilgrim's Tale,
Baron Konrad and myself asked Earl Dafydd ap Gwystl about his knowledge of
the history of the Arrow ... and the following is what was determined:
The Arrow itself was a gift to Their Majesties when Earl Dafydd was upon
the throne in 1998 (AS XXII). It was decided (Earl Dafydd couldn't
remember if it was his own idea or someone else's) that it would make an
excellent trophy for a competition. And thus the competition was born.
The Arrow was Officially known as: "The Golden Arrow of Atlantia", and it
was decreed that an archery competition would be held between the groups in
Atlantia. That teams consisting of 2 archers from each Barony would shoot
in a competition to claim rights to the Arrow. And that the winning team
would be required to host the competition again the next year.
The first year, the competition was won by the archers of the Barony of
Lochmere. Lochmere then proceeded to keep successfully defending the Arrow
for the next (8? 9?) years. After which it has passed hands into Roxbury
Mill, Highland Foorde, and now Stierbach.
After Lochmere had held the Arrow for a number of years, they claimed the
right to rename the Arrow the 'Lochmere Arrow'. According to Earl Dafydd
however; this was a right solely claimed by Lochmere, and never anything
done officially.
Therefore while it has become 'known' as the Lochmere Arrow, it is still
officially the Golden Arrow of Atlantia.
In Service,
Lord Siegfried Sebastian Faust
